In late 2023, the first KAMAZ-6282 electric buses arrived in Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, and Volgograd. This eco-friendly transport with the signature "This is an electric bus" inscription and the logo of KamAZ's main shareholder, Rostec, has been running in Moscow since September 2018.
Residents and guests of the capital have already come to love the KAMAZ-6282 for its comfort, quietness, and smooth ride, and now this transport is conquering other Russian cities as well. KamAZ is participating in a federal project to develop urban electric transport and is supplying innovative transport to seven regions.
In addition to the Rostov region, electric buses are now running in Kursk, Lipetsk, Perm - and this is not the entire list of interested parties throughout Russia. Test runs of the electric bus, for example, have already been conducted in Kazan and Belgorod.
«Первый технический» has gathered five facts about what's inside and outside the KAMAZ-6282.
The electric bus is low-floor, emits less noise, and is maximally adapted to different categories of passengers and their needs. It has Wi-Fi and phone chargers, a folding ramp for wheelchair access, and driver call buttons if the passenger has limited mobility.
Validators are also installed for fare payment and video cameras that monitor the situation inside and outside the electric bus.
The color design solution for electric buses is created separately for each customer: not all KAMAZ-6282s look the same. The exception so far is Volgodonsk, where electric buses with a "Moscow" design arrived.
For example, the Moscow electric buses are blue with a white signature inscription.
Electric buses in Kursk are green with a white signature inscription.
The functionality of electric buses and their characteristics remain the same.
Nickel-manganese-cobalt energy storage devices with an energy capacity of 201 kWh allow the electric bus to charge in just ten to a maximum of twenty minutes.
Charging is carried out from ultra-fast charging stations using a semi-pantograph. Additionally, there is also a CCS Combo type2 connector for charging from pistol-type stations. This type of transport does not need a contact network.
The design of the electric bus is constantly being refined and improved. And, as noted in KamAZ, KAMAZ-6282 is sanction-resistant.
In the latest version of the KAMAZ-6282 electric bus, the battery capacity has been increased with the possibility of a range of up to 90 km, and a one hundred percent electric climate system - heater - has been installed.
The electric bus has a version with night charging: KAMAZ-6282 ONC. It charges at night, during non-working hours, when electricity is cheaper, and manages to perform more transport operations.
The energy storage device of this model is lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt battery packs with an energy capacity of 499 kWh. The electric motor is synchronous with permanent magnets as part of an electric portal axle, with a power of 2x180 kW. The range of the KAMAZ-6282 ONC electric bus is up to 285 km.
