The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced the successful air tests of the new domestic Il-96-400M airliner. It is planned to be used for the development of air services in the Russian regions.
The plane spent 26 minutes in the air. During this time, it climbed to a height of up to 2,000 meters at a speed of up to 390 km/h. The prototype aircraft showed excellent performance of all systems manufactured in Russia, including avionics.
The Il-96-400M is a deeply modernized version of the Il-96-300. The first flight of this new airliner has been postponed more than once, it was supposed to take place in 2022. This year it was supposed to be the highlight of MAKS-2023, but the show was canceled.
