The first civilian supersonic aircraft will appear in Russia by the end of the decade. This was announced by specialists from the S.A. Chaplygin Siberian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation (SibNIA).
Scientists are currently working on solving the key problems of high fuel consumption and high aerodynamic shock. The demonstrator will appear in 2028-2029.
SibNIA is also researching technologies for creating regional aircraft, new generation rotorcraft, and short takeoff and landing aircraft.
