Russian submarines are better than American ones in their characteristics, and this negates their quantitative advantage. Thus, Vladimir Yeranosyan, an expert at the Bureau of Military-Political Analysis, commented on President Donald Trump's statement about the numerical superiority of the US Navy's submarine fleet.

Yeranosyan disagreed with Trump's statement. He recalled that Russian "strategic submarines are newer, about 14 times cheaper than American ones." Diesel-electric submarines in service with the Russian Navy also surpass in parameters, "are valued more in the world, an order of magnitude cheaper", the expert added.
Our multipurpose submarines are adapted for the hypersonic weapon "Zircon", but the US has no hypersonic weapons.
The US Navy includes a large number of Ohio-class submarines, which are already outdated. Therefore, perhaps, the US has some advantage in the number of submarines, but not in quality, Yeranosyan noted.
In terms of range and speed, our boats will pose a greater threat to them than their submarines will to us.
Russian officials do not name the exact number of submarines in service with the Russian Navy. According to open data, there are at least 64 of them. At the same time, the newest submarines of the 885M Yasen-M project are being actively built at shipyards - carriers of hypersonic Zircon missiles.
