Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed to continue the serial production of Project 885M multi-purpose nuclear-powered submarines, code-named "Yasen-M".
According to him, the "Yasen-M" cruisers are the foundation of the strike potential of the general-purpose forces of the Russian Navy. The head of state specified that four cruisers of the project with cruise missiles are under construction at the Sevmash enterprise. There are plans to build two more submarines of this project.
It is important to continue the serial production of Project "Yasen-M" nuclear submarines. Furthermore, an urgent task is to increase the potential of non-nuclear submarines.
The submarines of the "Yasen-M" project are the fourth generation of nuclear submarines, for which fundamentally new complexes of automation and electronic warfare, technical equipment and the main power plant were created. The main armament is "Caliber" and "Zircon" missiles.
