The new generation of upgraded Msta-S self-propelled artillery units (SPGs) under the 2S19M2 Msta-SM2 index will significantly increase the potential of Russian artillery units in counter-battery combat, military expert Yevgeny Damantsev said.
The modernized version of the howitzer is equipped with an automated fire control system (ASUNO) "Uspesh-S", which allows firing at targets around the clock and in all weather conditions.
Target distribution is carried out using the machine of the senior officer of the self-propelled artillery battery "Planshet-A". The self-propelled gun crew can receive target coordinates from any modern reconnaissance UAVs, including Orlan-10, ZALA 421-16E, Forpost-Ru or Inokhodets-Ru.
The 2A64 gun has the same ballistic qualities, providing a firing range of Krasnopol guided projectiles of no more than 20 km. Nevertheless, the gun received an increased rate of fire of up to 10 rounds per minute and the implementation of the "fire raid" mode.
The howitzer is equipped with a programmable loading complex. Speed - up to 60 km/h, range - more than 600 km. Modernized self-propelled guns can fire high-explosive fragmentation and active-rocket jamming projectiles.
