Expert explained how the Kalibr-NK missiles are inferior to the SAMP-T, IRIS-T SLM and IR-ASRAAM SAMs

Analyst Damansev: the missiles of the Kalibr-NK complex are not capable of performing anti-aircraft maneuvers due to limited speed

Russian strategic cruise missiles of the 3M14T Kalibr-NK line continue to be vulnerable to a number of modern anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs). This was stated by military expert Evgeny Damansev.

Despite their impressive power, the strategic cruise missiles of the 3M14T Kalibr-NK line remain vulnerable to modern SAMs, such as SAMP-T, IRIS-T SLM, IR-ASRAAM, as well as S-300PS, especially when launched in small volleys of four missiles. Due to the limited speed of 950 km/h, the Kalibr-NKs are not capable of performing intensive anti-aircraft maneuvers and have an effective reflecting surface (ERS) of about 0.1 m².
Evgeny Damansev, military expert

Damansev noted that for breaking through echeloned anti-missile barriers, it is more advisable to use hypersonic aeroballistic missiles Kh-47M2 Kinzhal and air-launched cruise missiles Kh-101 with an RCS within 0.01 m².

The Kalibr-NK is designed to be launched from surface ships. The main advantage of the complex is its versatility, which allows it to be used as an anti-ship and strike missile. The range of the Kalibr-NK complex reaches 2500 km.

The Kalibr-NK missile system is equipped with frigates of Project 22350 type Admiral Gorshkov and corvettes of Project 21631 Buyan-M.
