A Russian delegation led by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin paid an official visit to Vietnam. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Information and Communications of the Socialist Republic signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of radio electronic industry and digital technologies. According to the document, the Asian partner may become a supplier of strategically important chips, noted Alexander Rogozhin, head of the sector at the MGIMO of the Russian Foreign Ministry of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Vietnam is actively increasing the production of microelectronics - the production of devices and components is being transferred there from China. Therefore, the country may be of interest to Russia for the supply of strategically important chips, Rogozhin explained.
This product is needed not only for civilian, but also for military purposes. The same drones and guided missiles do not fly without chips. The need for these components is great, so new supply channels are needed. However, the difficulty is that many of the companies that have opened production in Vietnam are American, so control from the United States is not excluded. Perhaps the authorities will consider the issue of supplies through third countries.
In total, two memoranda of understanding were signed with the Vietnamese side. One was signed on the Russian side by the Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov, it provides for cooperation in radio electronics.
The second document was signed by the head of the Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadaev, it concerns digital transformation and the digital economy.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a way has been found to make the Su-34 fighter use Kinzhal missiles.
