Why the expensive sedan goes unnoticed on the roads and is mistaken for another model

The idea of creating a car two classes higher from a B+ class people's model, simply by lengthening the body, initially seems complex. Moreover, on the road, the Lada Aura is not perceived as a business-class car. Many simply don't notice it, seeing no difference from the Lada Vesta. How do these cars differ? Let's find out.

Interestingly, even in a relatively "simple" Premier configuration, the Lada Aura costs 639,000 rubles more than the top-end Lada Vesta sedan, which it is sometimes mistaken for on the roads of Moscow.

Of course, not everyone notices that the Aura's body is 25 centimeters longer, and its wheels are set slightly wider. Only true fans of the model can see this.

We detail the Lada Aura in the top-end Status configuration and how it differs from the updated Vesta, besides the 25-centimeter increase in body length.

Does Size Matter?

The Aura in the maximum Status configuration is equipped with 17-inch wheels with an increased offset. According to the requirements of the technical regulations, they should not protrude beyond the body when viewed from above. For this purpose, special covers are provided on the wheel arches, which resemble balancing weights for wheels. All braking mechanisms on this model are disc brakes, both front and rear.

In addition, it is worth noting another feature related to the wheels: the Aura model has standard "mudguards" only at the front, and they are very small and probably not very effective.

As for the rear of the car, there are no protective elements that could prevent dirt and splashes from getting on the body. Therefore, driving the Aura in rainy weather may not be the most pleasant experience.

In addition to the "mudguards", there are strange aerodynamic shields on the front wheels. It is not yet known for sure how long they will be able to withstand external factors.

Light it Up!

The Aura car, like the updated version of the Vesta, uses only LED lamps. However, this model does not have a headlight washer or manual adjustment. According to technical regulations, such features are permissible if the luminous flux of the low beam does not exceed 2000 lumens. At the same time, the car is equipped with fog lights with a cornering function.

The Aura has another pleasant feature - the seats are upholstered in genuine leather, which is not only aesthetically pleasing but also has high tactile properties.

However, the front seats of this not-so-cheap sedan, apparently, remained unchanged. Of course, the leather trim and new stitching slightly updated their appearance, but in general, their shape remained the same.

In the top configuration, the car's steering wheel is equipped with additional controls. On the steering wheel spokes, there are two key blocks that allow you to easily control the on-board computer menu, turn on music, activate the voice assistant, cruise control, or speed limiter. In addition, this version has a button for heating the steering wheel.

The Main Disadvantage

The front seats are equipped with heating, which is controlled by buttons on the center console. However, in the Aura model, the seat heating does not work in the most efficient way. As for the rear seats, there is no way to adjust the heating power at all - it is either on or off.

The main disadvantage of the Aura model is its insufficient width for D-class cars. It will be cramped for three people here. But for two, there is a folding armrest, seat heating (as already mentioned, with one mode), and additional pillows on the headrests.

However, even in the top version, there are no folding tables (you will have to hold the laptop on your lap), only one USB port (and that is not for fast charging), one 12 V socket, and no ventilation deflectors.

It is worth noting that in many modern D-class sedans from China, the set of amenities for rear passengers is no better: often even the armrest is missing.

Attention to Detail

Nevertheless, AvtoVAZ paid attention to even the smallest details. For example, "heater" deflectors are installed in the legs of the rear passengers, which are carefully covered with carpet. The ends of the front seat rails are protected by plastic plugs, and metal plates are installed on the sills. Even the audio system speakers have the Aura label.

The least significant part of the car is the luggage compartment of the Aura model. It is almost identical to the trunk of the Vesta sedan. The only difference is that in the Aura, there are thicker and more numerous layers of sound insulation under the upholstery (this can be seen by looking into the holes for servicing the rear lights).

The lid lifting mechanism has also not undergone any changes and is disappointing with its springs, which are visible from the plastic tubes. There were also no hooks for bags or nets - they were never added.

Under the hood of the Aura car, you can find the well-known 1.8-liter gasoline engine, which produces 122 horsepower. However, in this model, it is devoid of a decorative cover.

In addition, there are other visual differences, especially in the shape of the upper crossbar of the radiator frame, which resembles a TV. This indicates that the Vesta restyling affected not only the external body and interior panels.

However, in general, all components and mechanisms in the Aura's engine compartment are located in the same way as in the Vesta.

The hood design includes sound insulation, as well as a seal along the front edge. Only domestic markings are visible on the elements, but we know that not all components in this case are domestic.

Reliable Protection

Even without using a lift, you can see that the car is well protected from corrosion. This is an additional advantage provided by the dealer. It is worth noting that no artisanal methods were used to lengthen the body. This suggests that the car's power frame is strong and reliable.

In terms of suspension components and parts, the Aura also resembles the Vesta. It is likely that the characteristics of the springs and shock absorbers have been adjusted to take into account the changed dimensions, weight distribution, and weight of the car.

Recall that sales of the car started in November 2024. Two trim levels are available for the Lada Aura: Premier (base) and Status (top).

The base Premier trim offers a combination of artificial leather and fabric for seat upholstery, four airbags, a stabilization system (ESP), air conditioning, front and rear parking sensors, a blind spot monitoring system, a rear-view camera, cruise control, an audio system, EnjoY multimedia with a 7-inch monitor, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, electric windshield heating, and 16-inch alloy wheels. The cost of this version is 2,599,000 rubles.

The top-end Status modification features genuine leather seat upholstery (black or gray to choose from), heated rear seat back, pillows on the rear seat headrests, a virtual instrument panel with a diagonal of 10.25 inches, a two-tone design of the front panel and steering wheel, an Enjoy Vision Pro multimedia system with a 10.4-inch monitor, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The cost of this version of the Lada Aura is 2,799,000 rubles.

Three colors are available for both trim levels: black, silver, and brown. By default, the car is offered in black, and you will have to pay an additional 15,000 rubles for the rest.

Earlier, the cost of servicing the Lada Aura became known. According to the regulations, owners or drivers of business sedans must undergo the first maintenance at official Lada dealers when the odometer shows 15,500 kilometers, or one year after purchasing the car. The cost of maintenance at this mileage will be 11.3 thousand rubles.

The second MOT is carried out at a mileage of 30,500 km for 12,500 rubles. The third at 45,500 km costs 28,400 rubles, the fourth – at 60,500 km – 12,500 rubles, and the fifth at 75,000 km – 14,900 rubles. The highest cost of maintenance will be 36,000 rubles – at a mileage of 90,000 km.
