Invisibility Cloak from American Javelin: "Cape" from Kalashnikov Reduces Threat to T-80BVM by 3.5 Times

Thermal imager detection range reduced by 7 times

The Russian army is equipped with modernized gas turbine T-80BVM tanks. They are equipped with a set to reduce radar and IR signature "Nakidka", as well as a multi-band modification of the radio-electronic warfare (EW) system "Kapyushon" with the index K-12.

The probability of capturing a T-80BVM with "Nakidka" using the infrared homing head (HSH) of the FGM-148E Block I Javelin missile is reduced by 3-3.5 times, said military expert Evgeny Damantsev. The detection range with thermal imaging sights is also reduced - by more than 5-7 times.

The effective reflecting surface of the vehicle in the X-band is reduced by 8 times. This reduces the detection range of equipment, for example, the onboard AFAR-RLK AN/ZPY-2 UAV RQ-4B Global Hawk by 1.5-1.7 times, from 200-160 km to 130-100 km.

The manufacturer of the protective material "Nakidka" is JSC "NII Stali" (part of the Kalashnikov concern).

The EW complex "Kapyushon" is supplemented with a multi-band directional frequency spectrum analyzer for modeling a jamming signal corresponding to the frequency ranges of video links and radio control channels of enemy drones.

Earlierwww1.ru reported that various versions of BMP-2, BMD-4, BTR-MDM infantry fighting vehicles began to beregularly equipped with "Nakidkas".
