The AGR Group of Companies plans to resume engine production at the former Hyundai WIA plant near Sestroretsk in 2027. This was reported by the "TAGAZ: Avtozhurnal" channel, citing a source familiar with the situation. There is no official statement from the company yet.

It is unknown which engines will be produced. According to the channel, the nomenclature has not yet been determined or disclosed.

AGR already has an engine division. In Kaluga, the company launched the production of 1.5-liter Chery engines. And at the former Hyundai car plant, which is now managed by AGR, Tenet Plus L4 cars are assembled using the large-unit assembly method.

Currently, "Avtozavod Sankt-Peterburg," formerly owned by Nissan, will begin a large-scale modernization of its production line on October 26, 2026. The plant produces Lada Iskra using the large-unit assembly method. Before that, X-Cite cars were assembled there.

By the end of 2025, "Avtomobilny Zavod AGR" produced more than 45 thousand cars, doubling the previous year's result, and city authorities expect to almost double the production of new models by 2028.
