Tverskoy Vagonostroitelny Zavod (TVZ, part of Transmashholding) has modernized the positioner used in the assembly of wagon body frames. After the upgrade, the equipment will be able to work with wagon frames of 1-VM dimension and the enlarged T dimension. This was stated in the company's announcement.

The design of the updated unit was developed by specialists from the mechanization and automation bureau of UGT, and the assembly was performed by workers of the tool shop. The main change is related to expanding the versatility of the equipment: the positioner was adapted to work with frames of two dimension options during the installation of undercarriage equipment.

Modernization affected not only the power structure. The end rotating elements of the unit were refined, the central beam was replaced, and a new control system was implemented.

Outdated electric motors were replaced with modern drives. According to the company, they provide more precise motion control and should reduce the risk of operator errors.

The modernized positioner is planned to be fully commissioned in the near future. The company expects that the update will allow the production of new wagons with less time and labor.
