Transmashholding, based at the Tver Carriage Works (part of TMH), has launched the production of the first locomotive-hauled compartment passenger car model 61-4533 with an increased gauge for acceptance, certification, and operational tests.
Specialists from Transmashholding and Russian Railways have developed an innovative product that allows increasing the number of passengers, providing them with greater comfort, and improving operational characteristics.
Unlike the standard 1-VM car, the new car has increased dimensions: its length is 73 centimeters longer, and its width is 28 centimeters wider. Thanks to this, the passage in the cabin has become 9 centimeters wider. The sleeping berths in the compartment have become 15 centimeters longer, and an additional passenger compartment has also been added.
The new car is equipped with modern braking, power supply, climate control, and diagnostic systems. This makes the operation of the car more efficient. All materials and components used in the car are of domestic production.
Currently, the project involves the production of six cars of model 61-4533. Four bodies are already ready, and two are in the production stage.
In December, the plant completed the assembly of one car, the installation of electrical systems, internal equipment, and interior.
The body of the very first car, under factory number No. 00001, has successfully passed static strength tests. Now it awaits preliminary and certification checks. After that, the prototype will be tested in various weather and operating conditions to check the operation of all equipment.
After the new cars pass all tests and receive a certificate confirming their compliance with the requirements of the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union, they will be transferred to Russian Railways for transporting passengers on the most popular routes of the Russian railway.
