Azimut company, part of Rostec State Corporation, has completed the outfitting of Makhachkala Airport as part of its reconstruction. The airport received air traffic control, navigation, and security systems. This was reported to "Pervy Tekhnichesky" by Rostec's press service.

The new command and control center received the "Galaktika" automation system. It collects, backs up, and processes information about the air situation, then transmits it to controllers. The system reduces the workload on specialists and increases airspace capacity.

Biometric Control

For access to service areas, Azimut implemented the biometric complex "Vzor". It recognizes a person by the iris of their eye. The developer claims that Makhachkala is the first Russian airport with such a solution.

"Vzor" operates contactless. Along with it, the "Kiosk" software and hardware complex was installed: it records iris, face, fingerprint, or voice templates. The equipment integrates with existing access control systems.

Navigation Equipment

The airport installed the DVOR 2000/DME/N 2700 radio beacon. It helps aircraft navigate in flight and during approach. The ILS 2700 landing system, AORL-AMI 2700 radar, TRS 2000 transceiver center, RMP-200 radio beacon, and DF 2000 radio direction finder were also installed.

Part of the equipment – the DVOR 2000/DME/N 2700 radio beacon – was delivered back in March 2026. At that time, Azimut noted that such a beacon is especially needed in the mountains: it provides a stable signal where satellite communication may be lost.

Azimut's equipment operates in more than 160 airports and air traffic control centers in Russia and neighboring countries, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, and southern Russia.
