Azimut Company (part of Rostec) has installed an ILS 2700 instrumental landing system at Sochi Airport, the state corporation reported. The equipment transmits information to the aircraft about its distance from the runway, deviation from course, and glideslope. This allows pilots to land airliners in adverse weather conditions.
Earlier, Azimut installed VCS 2700 voice communication systems and CDR 2700 information recording and playback systems at the Sochi air hub. They provide communication between dispatchers and crews and aerodrome services, as well as round-the-clock recording of operational data.
The technical characteristics of ILS 2700 comply with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The equipment has redundant components that automatically replace failed elements. Local failures do not affect the operation of the entire complex. Airport specialists can remotely control the system's ground radio beacons and perform their diagnostics from automated workstations at the command and control center.
Similar equipment is already operating in Chukotka, the Kuril Islands, Yamal, and other regions of the Far North, as well as in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Abkhazia. Azimut is a leading Russian developer and manufacturer of air navigation systems for equipping airfields and air routes. The company supplies "turnkey" communication, navigation, landing, and air traffic control equipment.
