The first iris recognition system for transport in Russia has been launched at Makhachkala Airport. The domestic "Vzor" complex was implemented by Azimut company. The system has undergone testing at industrial facilities and in law enforcement agencies.

The "Vzor" system can recognize a person even in motion – at a distance of up to 1.5 meters. Glasses or contact lenses do not affect accuracy.

The iris scan is converted into a closed digital code, from which it is impossible to restore the image of the eye or directly link it to personal data, the developers said.

The process itself takes fractions of a second, and the system's throughput is up to 40 people per minute.

The "Kiosk" complex is also installed at the airport. It records other biometric data – face, fingerprints, and voice.
