Russian submarines are becoming increasingly difficult to detect and track. This statement was made by the Chief of the Naval Staff of the UK, General Sir Gwyn Jenkins.
According to him, the Royal Navy is forced to deploy an average of two warships every week just to track the movements of Russian submarines and the "shadow fleet" off its shores.
Russia has modern submarines that are becoming increasingly difficult to track, high-precision long-range weapons, and specialized systems designed for deep-water operations.
Recently, the "Novorossiysk" submarine of Project 636.3, nicknamed "Black Hole" for its high acoustic stealth, unexpectedly appeared in the English Channel. Prior to this, the French Navy also reported the appearance of the "Novorossiysk" off its shores. All submarines of the project are armed with "Kalibr-PL" cruise missiles.
It should be noted that the Project 636.3 diesel-electric submarines are still unable to operate in submerged mode for more than 1.5 days without recharging their batteries on the surface.
