Russia is among the top three leading countries in the development of unmanned transport. This refers to vehicles capable of performing transportation using autonomous technologies. Konstantin Pashkov, First Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Transport, revealed the details.

According to Pashkov, Russia is also among the top ten countries in the development of digital services in transport. However, in the field of autonomous transport, the country is already in the top three.
Along with Russia, the USA and China are in this group. Pashkov named these three countries as those currently setting the direction for the development of autonomous transport.
According to him, it's not just about who produced the chip used in such systems. More important is how the technology itself is organized and how widely it is implemented in transportation.
Russia is confidently moving in this direction, added the First Deputy Head of the agency.
Russia and Autonomous Transportation: Mileage, Regulation, and Plans
The total mileage of autonomous trucks in the country has exceeded 19 million kilometers, and by 2035, their fleet could grow to 57 thousand units.
In January 2026, at a meeting on unmanned systems, a lag in autonomous transport was noted compared to countries where unmanned taxis are already mass-transporting passengers, and the priority was stated as a rapid transition from testing to implementation.
The Ministry of Transport explained that movement along established routes will remain the norm for the coming years, and the legal framework should be enshrined in a new federal law on autonomous transport.
