Eliminating the "teething problems" of the new PD-8 and PD-14 engines will require many more years to reach the level of foreign power plants. This opinion was expressed by Honored Pilot of the Russian Federation Yury Sytnik.

He also noted that leading airlines are "making ends meet," unable to order 10–15 aircraft and make advance payments for engine supplies.

The PD-14 engine still needs eight years to be perfected, and the PD-8, in essence, has only just been born. An engine needs to be nurtured for 5–10 years until it matches foreign counterparts.

Earlier, "Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" compared the PD-14 with its direct competitor – the American-French CFM LEAP-1A. The domestic power plant came out on top in terms of maintainability and technological independence.

As for the PD-8, the engine has already received a type certificate with a confirmed flight time of 40 cycles. In the future, this indicator will rapidly grow, aviation expert Roman Gusarov explained to "Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy".
