The Russian gas turbine market in 2026 faced a certain shortage of capacity in the commercial sector. Industrial enterprises, data centers, and agricultural complexes are massively trying to switch from rising grid tariffs to their own generation, but are encountering empty warehouses at domestic factories.

Valery Prokopovich, founder of the specialized portal "Novaya Generatsiya" (New Generation), explained that the root of the problem lies in the segment of small and medium-power turbines (up to 60 MW). In Russia, they are still produced based on aviation heritage.
The production of single-crystal blades for the hot section of turbines is a bottleneck in the industry. Demand from the state defense order for aircraft engines (PD-14, AL-41, etc.) in 2025–2026 effectively "sucks up" all the casting capacities of factories. Energy companies are second in this queue.
The production of unique single-crystal blades and complex cast components for them is concentrated at the same factories that meet the needs of aircraft manufacturing, Prokopovich believes.
