The new small-sized S8000 "Banderol" missile develops a maximum speed of up to 600 km/h. It is harder for interceptors to work against it than against slower "Geran" drones, "Voennaya Khronika" reported.
With such characteristics, "Banderol" is still a subsonic weapon. Recall that the speed of sound in the air is about 1225 km/h. However, the S8000 has a number of qualities that other common missiles in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces do not.
"Banderol" is capable of performing turns with a smaller radius than Kh-101, Kh-69, 3M-14 "Kalibr", and 9M727. This allows for a more winding route, bypassing individual air defense zones and approaching the target from an inconvenient direction.
Earlier it became known that the cost of one "Banderol" missile is estimated at up to 30 thousand dollars, which is 2 times cheaper than "Geran-4".
At the same time, almost the entire nomenclature of the Russian Aerospace Forces can become carriers – there will be no need to build a new bomber, noted military analyst Alexander Stepanov of RANEPA.
