The Russian small cruise missile S8000 "Banderol" is being actively modernized. If previously it was spoken of as another cheap munition for mass strikes, now it is considered a fairly precise tool for hitting complex targets, primarily engineering structures, according to the Telegram channel "Inzheneriya Voyny".

The main advantage of "Banderol" is the combination of accuracy, relatively low cost, and potential mass production. This is a rare combination that allows the missile to solve problems that were previously addressed by heavier and more expensive means, the cost of which is five times higher.

Technical characteristics of the product: maximum speed – 650 kilometers per hour, cruising speed – about 520–560 km/h, flight range reaches 500 kilometers. The missile carries a high-explosive fragmentation warhead weighing about 115 kilograms. Guidance – inertial and satellite. Launch is carried out from the Orion (Inokhodets) attack drone or from a Mi-28NM helicopter.

If the production of "Banderol" is deployed in large volumes, it could become a serious problem for enemy air defense, as it represents a difficult target in terms of detection – reaction – interception. In addition, it is launched in combination with other means of destruction – Geran drones and other missiles.
