The composite wing of the Russian MC-21 does not represent a unique technology in its basic design. The American Boeing 787 Dreamliner uses similar materials, aviation expert Roman Gusarov told "Pervy Tekhnichesky".

According to him, such composites use a combination of carbon fiber and a polymer matrix. However, the specific brands of fiber, lay-up structure, and resin composition may differ depending on the manufacturer and design requirements.

Gusarov reminded that composites have long been used not only in aviation. They are used to manufacture elements of cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and other machines. The combination of carbon fiber with polymer resin itself is not considered some very exotic material, he concluded.

Aviation expert Oleg Panteleev suggested that Russia's experience in creating composite wings might interest China in the development of the wide-body CR929.
