Russia is interested in returning to discussions on a wide-body aircraft construction project with China. This was announced by Russia's First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.

According to him, this topic has not yet been raised with the participation of officials from both sides within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum.
But we would be interested in returning to a detailed discussion of this topic.
In September 2025, Manturov stated that Russia was ready to supply components for the Chinese wide-body aircraft, including a composite wing and a heavy engine.
Russia and China had previously collaborated on the CR929 project – a new-generation wide-body long-haul aircraft. However, the Chinese side later decided to develop its own wide-body aircraft.
Meanwhile, Russia already has its own long-haul aircraft – the Il-96-400M. But airlines were not interested in it due to economic performance, preferring Boeing and Airbus liners.
