Russia has begun developing a new aircraft engine PD-26, based on the PD-35 power plant demonstrator. Now it has become known which domestic airliners will be equipped with the PD-26 in the future.
According to the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, PD-26 engines will in the future be installed on MS-21-500 passenger aircraft and its extended version, the MS-21-600.
It is worth noting that the Il-96-400M was initially mentioned, as well as the Il-100 aircraft model intended for military transport aviation.
By the way, the new MS-21-500 and MS-21-600 aircraft are planned as long-range narrow-body passenger liners, but their parameters are currently unknown.
Manturov added that Russia is ready to establish supplies of components for the wide-body airliner being created by China, including an aircraft engine with a thrust of 26 tons and a wing made of composite materials. By the way, work on the PD-26 sketch has already been completed.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the production program for MS-21, SJ-100 and Tu-214 aircraft will be revised in Russia.
