"Finam" plans to enter the Russian cryptocurrency market in several roles at once. Vladislav Kochetkov, President and Chairman of the Group's Board, stated that the company will definitely operate as a broker and crypto exchange.

However, a proprietary digital depository is still in question. Such infrastructure is needed for official accounting and secure storage of cryptocurrency, but its creation, according to the company's estimates, will require at least 3 billion rubles in investments and will pay off in eight years or more.

According to Kochetkov, such a project requires a clear understanding of the future market's scale, and at the start of regulation, such certainty is not yet present. Therefore, "Finam" will initially focus on brokerage services and cryptocurrency exchange.

The organized cryptocurrency market in Russia is expected to start operating after the new rules come into force on September 1. Other major players are also preparing for the launch: in particular, Alfa-Bank previously announced test trades and plans to create its own digital depository.
