The Russian cargo drone "Vurdalak" has begun performing practical tasks and has acquired a set of characteristics aimed at long-term operation in difficult conditions. The UAV is designed as a heavy hexacopter with increased communication reliability, a modular design, and the ability to carry loads up to 15 kg.
The drone is built with six rotors, which allows it to combine payload capacity and flight stability. The developers focused on redundancy of key systems and the ability to continue operations even if communication conditions deteriorate.
"Vurdalak" simultaneously uses several satellite navigation systems – GLONASS, GPS, Galileo, and BeiDou. In case of interference, the onboard electronics can filter unstable signals and switch between available coordinate sources.
Additionally, the device can be equipped with an RTK module to improve positioning accuracy. This system allows for high-precision landing when it is necessary to deliver cargo to a restricted area.
The drone's communication system is built using a digital secure data transmission channel with frequency hopping. The electronics analyze radio interference and select the most stable range for information exchange.
For increased reliability, additional control channels are provided. In case of digital system failure, the operator can use redundant communication options and visual control via an analog video channel.
