Specialists from Chelyabkranservis converted a diesel-electric railway crane KZhDE-25 (built in 1989 at JSC Kirovsky Mashzavod im. 1 Maya) into a machine for clearing tracks of snow. The acceptance of the special equipment took place on the West Siberian Railway.

The customer — an enterprise from the oil industry — decided to save resources and obtain a compact track cleaning machine by modernizing an existing unit of equipment.

Chelyabkranservis manufactured a new boom and brush, hydraulic and electrical equipment for the crane in 3 months. At the same time, engineers preserved the drive of the KZhDE-25 crane's movement. The special equipment can move at a speed of up to 20 km/h.

Main characteristics of the attachments:

  • Brush rotation angle — 60°
  • Height of snow to be removed — 0.3 m
  • Working width — 3 m

Engineers also replaced the standard YaMZ-236 diesel engine with a power of 100 kW with a Chinese TSS Diesel diesel-generator unit with a power of 150 kW. The control of the attachments was brought into the operator's cabin. The development successfully passed acceptance tests.
