A new "Vityaz" portal transshipment crane, designed for intensive handling of general and bulk cargo, has been put into operation in one of the ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin. The equipment was supplied and installed by ZAO "SMM", which specializes in heavy crane equipment for marine infrastructure.
The crane is designed for high-load operation: in the grab scheme, it lifts up to 32 tons, and in the hook scheme, up to 63 tons. The boom outreach reaches 40 meters, which allows it to serve a wide range of vessels and storage areas. The design is rated for a resource of at least 4 million cycles, which is aimed at long-term industrial operation without frequent shutdowns.
A separate design solution has been implemented in the running gear: modernized trolleys allow the crane to move along a curved path, which was necessary for the specific geometry of the berth.
The installation of the unit was carried out in the rear area of the port, after which the crane was moved to its working position along temporary rail tracks. This made it possible to reduce downtime of the berth line and put the equipment into operation faster.
