Russia has changed its tactics for using attack drones, which has led to a sharp decrease in the effectiveness of the opposing air defense system. The main factor was the Geran-5 jet drones, Le Monde newspaper reported.

The share of Geran-5 usage has increased to 30% among all unmanned aerial vehicles. The drones can cover up to 2 thousand km, develop speeds over 500 km/h, and fly at an altitude of about 5 km. For most anti-aircraft systems, these are unattainable characteristics.

The length of the launcher for the Geran-5 is 80 m. For comparison, the “younger” Geran-2s were launched into the sky directly from the roofs of pickup trucks. Specialized resources claimed that the drone allegedly has a flight range of only 1000 km.

Military analyst Kirill Fyodorov noted that the production of jet drones in Tatarstan has sharply increased. It is there that the Geran line of UAVs are assembled.
