The installation of the reactor vessel, one of the largest components of the reactor plant, has been completed at Unit 2 of the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant under construction in Egypt. The operation was carried out by Rosatom State Corporation using a heavy crawler crane with a lifting capacity of 1350 tons.

The reactor vessel, weighing over 340 tons, was placed in its design position in the center of the reactor shaft. The installation was carried out with high precision: the deviation during equipment installation was about one-tenth of a millimeter.

The reactor vessel is considered the main element of the nuclear power plant's primary circuit. Inside it will be the core with nuclear fuel, where a controlled fission reaction takes place. The design is intended for operation at high temperatures and pressures, ensuring the tightness and safety of the reactor plant.

After the installation is completed, specialists will proceed to the next major stage – welding the main circulation pipeline, which connects the key elements of the reactor plant's primary circuit.

The El Dabaa NPP is being built according to a Russian design with Generation III+ reactors. After commissioning, the plant's power units are expected to provide Egypt with additional nuclear generation capacity and become the first facility of its kind in the country.
