A modernized T-90M tank with the latest "Arena-M" active protection system (APS) was spotted in Russia. The production of combat vehicles with these systems has moved from single units to series production.

In photos online, one can see a "Proryv" being transported on a trailer on a public road. Launcher units and APS sensors are visible on the tank's turret.

"Arena-M" is designed to protect the tank from drones, anti-tank missiles, grenades, and HEAT rounds.

The APS sensors detect the appearance of an attacking projectile in the protected sector and launch a defensive munition, which destroys the target with a stream of damaging elements.

Military analyst Evgeny Damantsev specified that the maximum speed of targets that can be hit by "Arena-M" is up to 1.2 km/s. However, to destroy UAVs specifically, the radar system's viewing angle needs to be increased from 20 to 80 degrees.
