The forging plant of KAMAZ company has started supplying automotive components to the automaker Chery, which is developing local car production in Russia. The enterprise has already produced trial batches of crankshafts and has effectively entered a new supply chain for engines of Chinese models.
At the current stage, the plant has mastered the production of crankshafts for a four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine. Simultaneously, the design of stamping equipment for a more compact 1.4-liter engine is underway, which expands the range of potential orders and increases the technological flexibility of production.
According to Igor Malyasev, director of the forging plant, the diversified product line remains key for the enterprise. According to him, its development directly depends on the dynamics of the automotive market and the coordinated work of the production teams of the forging plant and the "KAMAZ Industrial Components" unit. It is separately noted that such products currently account for about 10% of the production structure.
In addition to cooperation with Chery, the forging plant also works with Russian automakers. These include GAZ and the Ural plant, for which additional automotive component positions are being developed.
