The Ministry of Transport, together with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, will finance the operation of new domestic airliners at the initial stage. This was stated by the head of the department, Andrey Nikitin.
According to him, all necessary funds will be provided in the budget. Subsidies will be directed to support airlines that will be the first to operate the MC-21, SJ-100, and Il-114-300.
It is planned that the state will subsidize the flights of these aircraft for the first five to six years. This is necessary for the so-called "rollout" – a period when the equipment is just entering serial operation and requires increased attention to maintenance.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized that the scheme is temporary. In the future, the United Aircraft Corporation must bring the aircraft to a commercial level where they will be profitable without subsidies.
It should be recalled that on June 24, President Vladimir Putin inspected the latest models of equipment in Zhukovsky, including the MC-21. He noted that the domestic industry has fully coped with the task of import substitution in aircraft manufacturing, despite external pressure.
