Moscow's Vnukovo Airport has completed the import substitution of its baggage management software complex, CNews reports, citing the developer company "Reksoft". Previously, the system used two foreign products – the Dutch Vanderlande and the German Beumer. Their operations have now been completely replaced by domestic software.
The transition to the Russian system took about two years. The parties do not disclose the exact cost of the project, however, according to Anton Averyanov, CEO of ST IT Group of Companies, the integration of Reksoft's software could have cost Vnukovo 100-250 million rubles. The expert clarified that if equipment modernization was carried out simultaneously, the amount could have been significantly higher.
As part of the import substitution, a Russian SCADA system was implemented into Vnukovo's IT system – a complex for real-time monitoring, control, and data collection from industrial facilities. As explained by the developer company, the new software allows tracking complete information about the state of baggage at any stage and providing it to all services through integration modules.
The software complex includes a SCADA system, an automation and dispatching system, and software for controller management. These solutions completely replaced the previously used Vanderlande software. Re-engineering of the software complex for managing the Beumer sorter was also performed.
By mid-2026, Vnukovo's baggage management system included 90 check-in counters, two transfer exits, and 10 baggage claim carousels, as well as a multi-level inspection system with computer tomographs. When using foreign software, it allowed processing 5400 units of baggage per hour.
Vnukovo became the second Russian airport in the last month to import-substitute its baggage management system. In mid-June, Sheremetyevo made a similar move, with preliminary estimates suggesting its costs could reach 700 million rubles.
