RESHETNEV will develop modernized Luch-5VM relay satellites No. 2 and No. 3 for the Luch multifunctional space relay system. The new spacecraft are intended to update the orbital infrastructure used for communication with low-orbit objects and real-time data transmission.

The main change will be the increased throughput of the onboard relay complex. Thanks to this, the system will be able to more efficiently receive and transmit information between spacecraft and ground infrastructure.

The Luch system is designed to monitor low-orbit objects and facilitate operational data exchange. Such relay satellites are especially important in situations where direct communication between the spacecraft and the ground station is absent or limited.

In addition to working with space objects, Luch also provides relay of Roshydromet information and emergency radio beacon signals. Therefore, the modernization of Luch-5VM satellites is important not only for space communication but also for monitoring, warning, and rescue tasks.
