New Russian Tank System Will Make Decisions for Crew

The cannon automatically blocks a shot if there are deviations in pressure, recoil, and barrel fouling

Specialists from the Khrulev Academy have developed a new system that monitors the condition of a tank cannon in real time and automatically blocks a shot at the slightest risk of damage. The documentation was published in the open database of Rospatent.

The complex includes sensors, a control unit, and a computing module, integrated into a single weapon protection system.

The device monitors several critical parameters simultaneously — the position of the recoil mechanisms, the pressure in the recuperator, and the condition of the recoil brake.

Additionally, the length of the barrel's recoil during a shot is monitored, which allows for the detection of anomalies directly during firing.

If the system detects a deviation — for example, a drop in pressure or a malfunction of the mechanisms — the firing circuit is automatically blocked. Information is immediately displayed on a light indicator and in the gunner's sights.

Uralvagonzavod, meanwhile, has launched a large-scale program for training young engineers. The enterprise is ready to fully pay for the education of 80 applicants from different regions of the country and guarantee employment.
