Footage of a rare modification of the Soviet T-72, spotted in Libya, has appeared online. It is one of the early variants of the tank, produced in Nizhny Tagil in the 1970s.
The main feature of the tank is a combination of several non-standard modifications. The vehicle was equipped with a Viper-72 thermal imaging sight, allowing it to detect targets at night at a distance of up to 4 km. At the same time, the old infrared searchlight was left in place.
The tank also received the Sarab-2 optoelectronic countermeasures system, designed to disrupt the guidance of anti-tank missiles.
In addition, the vehicle was equipped with a modern driver's device with thermal imaging and video channels, and later dynamic protection "Kontakt-1" was added.
Before this, photos went viral showing the Libyan army, which allegedly was spotted with Russian T-72B3M tanks with anti-drone "mangals" and an electronic warfare system.
