The question of developing a supersonic passenger aircraft in Russia is relevant within a 20-year horizon. These timelines were announced by the head of Rosaviatsia, Dmitry Yadrov.
According to him, to create such a project, a number of issues still need to be resolved, including the creation of necessary chemical composites and ecological fuel.
But, probably, within a 20-year horizon, this will be a quite relevant issue, because people want to move faster.
It should be recalled that quite recently, the head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, suggested that experimental design work on a new generation supersonic aircraft would begin as early as 2035 — that is, nine years from now.
At the same time, back in August 2025, the head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, stated that there was no demand for a supersonic airliner due to its high cost.
