The "Obereg 2.0" body armor, capable of stopping over 20 NATO rounds, was presented to Russian Minister of Defense Andrey Belousov and his counterparts from CSTO countries at the Rostec demo center in the "Patriot" park near Moscow. This was reported by the state corporation's press service.
Currently, "Obereg 2.0" is undergoing tests. A representative of the manufacturer, "Oktava" company, stated that the body armor panel of the vest features increased survivability.
The body armor stops over 20 NATO 5.56x45 rounds. Such ammunition is used, in particular, in American army assault rifles.
Among the advantages of the new "Obereg" are its reduced weight (7.5 kg) and the use of innovative armor plates (protection class Br4+) with a larger area.
