Tula-based Oktava plant (part of Rostec) has developed an upgraded tactical body armor kit called Obereg 2.0. The new version is lighter than its predecessors, with improved ergonomics and increased safety margin, the state corporation said.

The body armor is designed to protect against small arms bullets, edged weapons, and fragments with a speed of up to 560 m/s. It covers vital organs, neck, groin, shoulders, and collar zone according to Br1 and C2 classes. Depending on the configuration, it can be equipped with Br4 armor panels (protection against 5.45×39 and 7.62×39 assault rifle cartridges) or reinforced Br5 (against 7.62×54 rifle cartridges).

The designers have provided a quick-release system in the shoulder and waist areas – if necessary, the armor kit can be removed in a matter of seconds. The modernization of vests continues.

The main priorities are to reduce the weight of the product and increase the protection area, and to enhance protective characteristics. "Obereg 2.0" is a successful combination of quality, reliability, and ergonomics. I am confident that the product will be in demand and appreciated by our military personnel.
Pavel Pavlenko, General Director of Oktava

The body armor is available in sizes from 46 to 56 and fits well to the figure. Configurations range from basic (plate, vest, and collar) to full (with shoulder pads and groin protection).

Today, Oktava serially produces several versions: the general-purpose Obereg, the sapper Obereg-GR, the Obereg-SN for concealed carry, and the Obereg-INKASS for cash collectors and special communications.
