The United Aircraft Corporation is already building a prototype of the fifth-generation Su-75 Checkmate fighter. This was stated by OAK General Director Vadim Badeha.
According to him, it is important for Russia to resume production of a single-engine 5th generation fighter. Currently, there are no such combat vehicles in the Aerospace Forces' arsenal.
Although in the USSR, several tens of thousands of single-engine combat aircraft were produced. Work on Checkmate is already at the stage of building a prototype.
The approximate cost of Checkmate was estimated at 30 million dollars. For comparison, the basic version of the F-35 costs from 80 million and above.
We are creating the aircraft for both the Russian Ministry of Defence and foreign customers. The machine's potential is significant. The Ministry of Defence sets the task of reducing the cost of the final product.
Sergey Bogdan, head of the Sukhoi design bureau's flight service, promised that the first flight of the Su-75 would take place in early 2026, but as of the end of May, there is no news about the project.
