Approximately 2.6 thousand tons of nuclear material are located outside the reactors at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). Another 500 tons of nuclear fuel are placed directly in the plant's reactor units. This was announced by Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the Rosatom State Corporation.

Zaporizhzhia NPP is considered the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It includes six power units with VVER-1000 type reactors.
Currently, all power units are in a shutdown state, while nuclear fuel and other materials requiring constant monitoring and adherence to nuclear and radiation safety measures continue to be stored at the plant site.
Issues of ensuring the safety of the ZNPP remain one of the key topics on the international agenda related to the operation of the facility. The situation at the plant is regularly discussed by Russian representatives and experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency, whose specialists continue to work on site.
