The main bridge crane with a lifting capacity of 350 tons has been installed in the machine hall of the third power unit of the Akkuyu NPP. The work was carried out by the Akkuyu Nuclear team using a self-propelled heavy-duty crawler crane, and the entire operation took about six hours.
The crane will become a key lifting mechanism on the site: it will ensure the movement of heavy equipment during the construction and operation phases of the unit. With its help, specialists will install turbine unit cylinder rotors weighing over one hundred tons, turbogenerator components, and elements of process pipelines. During the station's operation, the unit will be used for scheduled repairs and maintenance of turbine equipment.
After the bridge structure is installed, the contractor will have to assemble the cargo trolley, connect and configure electrical circuits, control and monitoring systems. Engineers will check the operation of sensors, protective circuits, and interlocking mechanisms responsible for the safe operation of the hoist.
Before commissioning, the crane will undergo a full cycle of static and dynamic tests, including loads up to the maximum 350 tons. The tests will confirm the calculated strength of the metal structures, the accuracy of the drives, and the reliability of the emergency stop systems.
