The first RITM-200S reactor for a new generation floating nuclear power plant has been assembled at the ZiO-Podolsk production site. It is intended for the lead floating power unit PEB-106, which is being created as part of a series of installations for power supply to an industrial cluster in the Far East.
Rosatom State Corporation notes that the project continues the development of the floating power unit line and strengthens the direction of small nuclear generation. The company emphasizes that the completion of the reactor manufacturing opens the stage of transition to the installation of power equipment into the power unit hull.
Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said that the completion of the production of the first reactor for PEB-106 was an important milestone in the development of floating NPP technology. He noted that Russia maintains leadership in the small nuclear energy segment and develops solutions for low-carbon energy supply to industrial facilities.
The project is considered part of a large-scale program to create autonomous energy sources for remote territories and large industrial consumers.
