The newest anti-aircraft artillery complex "Tsitadel", designed to combat drones, may receive a mobile version on a wheeled platform. The development of such a version of the complex is planned by enterprises of the Russian defense-industrial complex. This was reported to TASS by a source in the country's defense industry.
According to a source in the industry, the promising modification will be based on "Ural" trucks. The mobile complex will include several vehicles with combat modules, as well as a separate vehicle with a radar station.
"Tsitadel" belongs to a new generation of countermeasures against unmanned aerial vehicles. The complex is equipped with a 30-mm artillery mount and is designed to protect important objects from various types of drones. For hitting targets, ammunition with a shrapnel part and remotely programmable detonation is used.
The complex also includes a control point, radar facilities, and an optoelectronic system for detecting and tracking targets. According to available data, the range of destruction of aircraft-type drones reaches 1 km along an inclined trajectory, and small multi-copters - up to 800 meters.
The appearance of a mobile version will expand the scope of application of "Tsitadel" and allow the complex to be used not only for guarding stationary objects, but also for covering various areas and infrastructure with the possibility of rapid deployment.
