The PD-14 aircraft engine for the MS-21-310 airliner showed a reduction in operating costs by approximately 15% compared to previous generation installations in its class. This was reported by the United Engine Corporation.
The engine develops thrust up to 14 tons at takeoff and meets modern noise and environmental requirements. During its creation, engineers implemented 16 critically important technologies and about 20 new materials and coatings, ODC emphasized.
One of the key developments was hollow titanium fan blades. They are both lighter than traditional solutions and capable of withstanding high loads.
The corporation also mastered a new technology for applying nanostructured multilayer coatings to PD-14 blades. The implementation of the technology allows to increase the operational characteristics of parts by more than two times.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that ODK accelerated welding of PD-14 engine parts by 10 times.
