Russian aircraft manufacturers have surpassed the entire world in competencies in creating the MC-21 aircraft entirely with domestic components. No other country can boast of this, said test pilot Oleg Mutovin of PAO "Yakovlev".
He reminded that even China's MC-21 analogue — Comac C919 — flies with French-American engines, American avionics, and American radars.
What is remarkable about the MC-21-310 is that the whole country is assembling it. It was partially released with foreign elements because it was easier to buy ready-made, certified, and install everything. Now we are import-substituting everything.
Mutovin also described how the machine's tests are conducted. First, there is a stage of mathematical modeling, which helps to understand how the liner will behave in certain conditions.
We, already somewhat theoretically savvy, having gathered courage, climb into some cloud where there is severe icing, accumulate a layer of ice on the aircraft, and observe how its characteristics change.
It should be noted that the issue became particularly acute during the work on the MC-21, where Russian enterprises had to replace a whole range of foreign components — from avionics to composite materials and control systems.
Earlier, Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov announced that serial production of the MC-21-310 will begin in 2027.
