333-ton VVER-1200 Giant Reactor Vessel Arrives at El Dabaa NPP Unit 2

Equipment totaling 2000 tons, including four steam generators and a pressurizer, was delivered by sea

The VVER-1200 reactor vessel for power unit No. 2 has arrived at the construction site of the El Dabaa NPP in Egypt. The equipment was delivered by the Engineering Division of the Rosatom State Corporation as part of the country's largest nuclear project.

Along with the reactor vessel, four steam generators and a pressurizer for the first power unit of the station were delivered to the construction site by sea. The total weight of the cargo was about 2000 tons, with the reactor vessel itself weighing over 330 tons.

The unloading of the equipment took place in the presence of the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy of Egypt, Mahmoud Esmat. During his visit to the site, he noted the importance of cooperation between Cairo and Moscow in the development of peaceful nuclear energy.

The equipment was manufactured at the Atommash plant in Volgodonsk. For the enterprise, this delivery was the largest in terms of dimensions for a single nuclear power plant. Like the reactor for the first unit, the new vessel was sent in a special decorative cover with atomic themes and elements of Russian folk ornaments.

The delivery was carried out by a river-sea class vessel, which allowed the equipment to be transported from the plant's pier to the NPP port without intermediate transshipments. In the near future, specialists will begin moving the equipment to storage areas and preparing for installation.
