At the Irkutsk Aviation Plant (IAZ), a project has been launched to accelerate the issuance of components for the production of MC-21 aircraft. The enterprise plans to halve the average processing and transfer time of parts to speed up aircraft assembly and reduce internal costs.
Work is being carried out at the enterprise's logistics center, where employees have begun training in lean manufacturing methods and analyzing current processes. Over ten days, specialists will develop solutions to accelerate the movement of components within the plant.
The enterprise expects that the updated system will allow for faster provision of necessary parts to production lines. For the MC-21 program, this means a reduction in the production cycle time and a more stable pace of aircraft output.
The Irkutsk Aviation Plant remains one of the key sites for Russian civil aviation. The enterprise is responsible for the serial production of MC-21 aircraft, which are considered a basic model for updating the fleet of medium-haul aircraft in Russia. Amid increasing production rates, logistics efficiency and component delivery speed are becoming critically important factors for the plant.
